Lincoln Street in Augusta WI with the Green Lantern Cafe in 1956 on the near right. Augusta Wisconsin scanned from a c. 1956 postal card. The Cafe was the Bus Stop for interstate lines such as Greyhound. Lincoln Street is Highway 12 and 27 and was heavily used. It was before the I-94 and interstate highways systems were build. The one policeman in town, Pinky Englsby, would direct intersection traffic during busy Saturdays. The highways were the primary roads between Chicago, Minneapolis and Northern Wisconsin
